Async video · Guided pacing
Speaksmith
The guided path for the conversations that matter.
Speaksmith turns the conversations you’ve been avoiding into paced, face-to-face asynchronous exchanges. A sender opens a session; the app reads prompts aloud, listens until the moment feels right, and hands control to the camera so the message is recorded, packaged, and delivered on the sender’s terms.
Why it exists
“Hard conversations don’t fail because we’re careless. They fail because reactivity wins.”
Most tools treat video messages as one movement: press record, speak, send. The result is the same jumble you get on a live call — only slower. Speaksmith inserts three deliberate pauses. A prompt is read aloud. The microphone waits through the silence. The camera only opens when you say so. Replies arrive at the recipient guided the same way, so listening happens before responding.
The hard thing, said well, lands different from the hard thing blurted. Speaksmith is built to invite the first and make the second a little harder to slip into.
A session, in three movements
The microphone reads. The microphone waits. The voice hands off.
Try the other side
Open a sample reply link to walk the receiver chamber — same prompts, recipient copy, mic-stream handoff onto capture.

A prompt reads aloud.
The microphone reads its prompt, slowly, until you nod. You find your footing before you say a word.
- 02
You speak until the moment feels right.
The camera waits. There is no countdown, no red light. You hand control to the lens when you decide the words are right.
- 03
The tape is packaged and delivered.
Sealed, captioned, and delivered on the sender’s terms. The recipient enters the same guided chamber before replying.
Under the hood
One microphone. Three engines. One orchestrator.
Three isolated engines — capture, guided reply, and playback — share a single microphone through a session orchestrator that exchanges control at gates.
The user feels one continuous experience instead of a brittle mode switch. Each engine only activates when the orchestrator hands off; the rest sit in reserve and verify their last handoff before yielding again.
- CaptureOwns the microphone and the framing. Holds when listening, hands off when recording.
- Guided replyReads prompts aloud, paces the silence, and verifies the seal between handoffs.
- PlaybackPreviews the recipient experience so the sender can review before the delivery gate.
- OrchestratorExchanges control at the gates. One session, three rooms, one thread through it.
Owns the mic + framing. Holds the lens when listening.
Reads prompts aloud. Paces the silence before reply.
Previews the recipient experience at the seal.
Built for
The conversations you keep postponing.
A small set of places where reactivity does the most damage and pacing does the most good.
- 01
Leaders giving hard feedback.
Promotion conversations, performance pivots, the message you have owed someone for a quarter. Steps in where a live call slips into reactivity and an email reads cold.
1:1, after the meeting you keep postponing.
- 02
Partners working through long-simmering issues.
Couples and cofounders sitting with something that has been building for months. The paced exchange lets the listener hear the prompt before the reply lands.
Two people, one fragile thread.
- 03
Coaches walking clients through structured reflection.
Sessions where the work happens between meetings. The recipient walks in guided, listens, and replies on a frame the coach set up — asynchronous but still paced.
Between sessions, on schedule.
- 04
Families who can’t get on a live call without it going sideways.
Siblings, parents, kids spread across timezones. The guided chamber replaces the live call that keeps devolving into cross-talk and unresolved endings.
Across timezones, around a difficult subject.
Privacy by default
Ephemeral by design. Contained on purpose.
Sensitive exchanges stay contained. Sends are ephemeral: you decide how long each video lingers on the recipient’s device before the gated session orchestrator seals it. There is no infinite scroll of “everything you’ve ever said.”
- Recipient hears the prompt before they respond.
- No silent background capture between handoffs.
- Sessions end on a seal, not on a forget.
Price
A small monthly price.
The barrier is kept low so anyone who’d rather say the hard thing well than not say it at all can. No tiers, no per-message meter, no upsell to unlock “ephemeral.” The full session is one price.
